1.Surface paper is placed on the top layer of the decorative board to protect the decorative paper, making the surface of the board highly transparent after heating and pressing, hard and wear-resistant.
2.Decorative paper, that is, wood grain paper, is an important part of the decorative board. It has a background color or no background color. The decorative paper printed into various patterns is placed under the surface paper and mainly plays a decorative role.
3.Covering paper, also called titanium white paper, is generally placed under the decorative paper when making light-colored decorative boards to prevent the underlying phenolic resin from penetrating the surface. Its main function is to cover the color spots on the surface of the substrate. Therefore, good coverage is required. The above three kinds of paper are impregnated with melamine resin respectively.
4.Bottom paper is the base material of the decorative board, which plays a role in the mechanical properties of the board. It is made by soaking in phenolic resin glue and drying. During production, several layers can be determined according to the application or the thickness of the decorative board.

Best Practices for Cutting and Installing Melamine Boards

Cutting and installing melamine boards with precision is key to ensuring the longevity and visual appeal of the finished product. Always use a sharp fine-toothed saw blade to avoid chipping the melamine’s surface. For best results, we suggest scoring the cutting line with a utility knife to further prevent splintering. Employing the right type of blade and cutting at an appropriate speed can make a significant difference in the smoothness of the cut edges.
When installing melamine boards, proper support and fixtures are crucial. Ensure that all fixtures are suitable for the weight and size of the melamine, as improper installation can lead to sagging or warping over time. We also recommend pre-drilling any holes for screws to prevent splitting the board. For a truly professional finish, utilizing matching or complementary edge banding will create a cohesive and seamless appearance, enhancing both the structure and aesthetics.
