The service life of particleboard is generally about 4-6 years, depending on the quality of the board and the environment in which it is used. The service life of ordinary particleboard is relatively short, and it may need to be replaced within 4-6 years, while particleboard of better quality can be used for a longer time, even up to more than ten years.
The advantages of particleboard include heat insulation, sound absorption, smooth surface, beautiful and durable, various veneer treatments, uniform bulk density, small thickness error, relatively high environmental protection coefficient, and basically the same performance in all directions. However, ordinary particleboard is prone to aging and deformation during use, especially when used in furniture such as cabinets, which may affect its service life.
In contrast, oriented strand board (OSB) has a longer service life and better physical properties. With its long shavings and unique three-layer paving structure, OSB has high bending strength and good stability. It can maintain good dimensional stability in high and low temperature environments and is not prone to expansion and contraction. In addition, OSB has a stronger nail holding force and is suitable for various machine processing, providing more possibilities for furniture making.
